NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) -- Police in Nashville arrested a man they accuse of intentionally dropping his infant son on his head in a market parking lot.
Police say Rodney Sanders was very drunk and arguing with his wife when he held his 12 day-old son, Rodney Sanders III, about shoulder height and dropped him head-down onto the asphalt pavement on Saturday, January 5, 2008.
Investigators say the child was knocked unconscious, but was later reported in stable condition at Vanderbilt University Children's Hospital.
Police charged Sanders with aggravated child abuse and public intoxication.
Officers say Sanders told his wife he was tired of her having only male children and that he wanted girls.
