Former Memphis City Schools board member Michael Hooks, Jr. pleaded guilty Thursday to embezzling property from the Shelby County Juvenile Court Clerk's Office, according to U.S. Attorney David Kustoff.
Hooks was indicted in June 2006 as part of Operation Tennessee Waltz, which is an ongoing investigation of public corruption in state and local governments.
Hooks' father, Michael Hooks, Sr. was also indicted in the same investigation. He pleaded guilty to bribery in August 2006 and was sentenced in December 2006, to 26 months in prison.
Hooks, Jr. is scheduled to be sentenced in federal court on April 9, 2008 at 1:30 p.m.
