MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A Murfreesboro man convicted of raping a teenage boy and exposing him to the HIV virus has been sentenced to serve three years in prison.
A judge sentenced 38 year-old Michael Wayne McElderry on Monday, February 11, 2008, to serve three years of an 18-year prison term.
McElderry was convicted in September 2007 of criminal exposure to the HIV virus and aggravated statutory rape. The teen's mother says he has not tested positive for the virus.
McElderry admitted he had sexual contact with a 15 year-old boy in July of 2006. He said the teenager's mother walked in and caught him in the act.
