Memphis Police Investigate Possible Rape at Egypt Elementary School

Officials at Memphis City Schools sent a letter to parents regarding the investigation of the possible rape of a child at Egypt Elementary School.

Investigators say someone reported a sexual assault at the school; the assault allegedly happened around 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, February 26. Police say a child is involved, but would not give any other details about the case.

Memphis City Schools released the following statement regarding the investigation:

"The sensitive nature of this allegation requires that it be treated with extreme care. As a district, we have an obligation to protect the identity and well-being of the child involved in this report. Additionally, we must ensure our school communities are not frightened by unconfirmed reports.

Therefore, it would be absolutely inappropriate to comment further at this time without confirmed details from authorities investigating whether this alleged incident occurred on or off school property. It should be made very clear that the safety of our students is of the utmost importance. This allegation is not something that is taken lightly. We will continue working with the family and cooperate fully with authorities to ensure this situation is handled properly and with the best interest of the child in mind."

Regarding the comment from MCS:  "The sensitive nature of this allegation requires that it be treated with extreme care. Their obligation is not just to protect the identity of the child, but how about protecting the child from harm while at school?  Parents should be frightened when a child cannot go to the bathroom without fear of being sexually assaulted at an elementary school.  The report may be unconfirmed, but the full news story did indicate that there was an unidentified man at and in the school that day.  How does that happen?  Was he challenged?  If so, why was he not removed from the school?  There are way too many unanswered questions regarding this story?

Catgirl thanks for the link.  It further puts things into perspective.

I have a punishment that I think would be fair and all here could get behind it.

We should take the perp and spread estrus from female chimpanzees in heat all over him and throw him in a cage of frustrated male chimps.  Initially we could sell PPV to defray the cost of the lifetime of psychological counseling this young boy will probably need.  When interest peters out we could just have a webcam of his daily encounters with the male chimps.  You know - a link you could click on to know there really is justice.  I for one would be glad to watch it.

Then again if the pyramid Bass Pro Deal falls through (boy I am sure that would be a shock) we could open a Roman Coliseum where "men" like this fight to the death with various medieval weapons.  The PPV proceeds would eliminate the need for any property tax increases.

For starters how did this perp get into the school and into a bathroom without any noticing him???  And now that this story is all over the media, how many perps just got an idea?????  The MCS had  better come up with something.  If it was that easy form him to get into the school, how easy would it be for him to take a child without anyone even noticing???

East- what are you trying to do? Take my position of Secretary of State away from me?

That was an AWESOME idea. Kinda sick, too. But in another sense, quite logical. ;)

Madames President and Vice-President? Should we make East one of our Cabinet members?

You know, come to think of it , two  other media TV outlets did stories on how easy it was to sneak in a school  and wander the halls without being noticed. Maybe the freak got the idea from that

It sure seems like news stations give a lot of ideas to all the wrong people. From what kind of house hold/common items will get you high and/or drunk to how to bump-pick locks. Why are these stories necessary? And how are these stories news? I know there aren't a lot of positive things going on in Memphis, but you are news reporters! Find something that won't give thugs and crooks ideas. The news stations are the thugs best friends. Its like special ed for the idiots that have no real skills, and are too stupid to even flip burgers, so they go to crime. I'm tired of the black community complaining and doing nothing about it. The fools down the street from this hell-bound piece of charcoal probably know he did it. Maybe they'll speak up when its their kid. No wonder all the white folk are burning rubber down Willie Herenton Highway(Hwy 64 if you didn't know). Its too far to walk, or use gas, and buses don't go that far. Do Something about your community. And white folk the same for you.

When I heard about this incident it just turned my stomach.  There are so many unanswered ?'s about this story, and I feel that parents should be aware of  any description of this person so that the children can be aware of him. He could be going around from school to school praying on little children.  I understand it is under investigation, so what I am suppose to tell my little nephews don't go to the bathroom until you get home.

If a news channel posted a story about how easy it was to get into a school unnoticed, schools should've made it harder! I don't mean to disagree with anyone, but it seems to me these sick freaks don't need to watch anything to get any ideas. These freaks are out there, everywhere. Black, white, whatever color...
These people can continue to disrupt our lives because we are too worried with other silly things like, "that only happens in -insert specific race here- neighborhoods" It's everywhere and we should all worry about what is happening to kids everywhere, not just kids of our own race or neighborhoods vastly populated with our own race. Come together as PEOPLE, not black or white, and when we can do that things will be alot better.
just my opinion

JmeYoung---I agree with you and respect your opinion. The beauty of these blogs is that people can write what they think on here and discuss those opinions or ideas and not hate each other. Thats what causes progress. If it were hispanic areas that there were real problems in, I would have addressed them. Or white, or whatever. However, in this city there happens to be a quiet obvious problem in the black community, and we can't ignore it. True, these criminals don't need help. Still, why should the stations give them any assistance to find another way to bother the good people in this city. There could be some waste of skin out there bored, sitting on his/her couch, smoking the dope looking for something to do. Then, the news comes on and now they've got something to do.
I'm just saying that instead of giving them ideas, why don't stations start posting some of these peoples names and pictures and offer their own reward if they are truly concerned with taking back the hoods.
