MORRISTOWN, Tenn. (AP) -- A Morristown teenager is the latest person to be charged in the slaying of a 94 year-old man whose hand was severed.
Newport police arrested 16 year-old Devan Patton on Tuesday, March 25, 2008, and charged him with facilitation of felony murder in the death of Willie Morgan in January.
The Citizen Tribune reported a Tennessee Bureau of Investigation agent offered testimony in court Wednesday morning that Patton was at the scene of Morgan's abduction and his murder.
Authorities have said Morgan was abducted and beaten to death before his left hand was cut off with a butcher knife. Investigators believe it was retaliation for an unidentified member of his family stealing $3,000 from a reputed drug dealer.
Four other people, including Patton's brother, 18 year-old Anthony Patton, are in custody in connection with the murder.
