Civil Rights Leader Convicted of Incest

Booking photo of James L. BevelLEESBURG, Va. (AP) - A jury in Leesburg, Virginia, has convicted a civil rights leader of incest after concluding that he had sex with his teenage daughter 15 years ago.

The Rev. James L. Bevel was a top lieutenant to Martin Luther King Jr. He also is credited with helping to conceive and organize the Million Man March.

Bevel faces up to 20 years in prison when he is sentenced.

The four-day trial included bizarre testimony about Bevel's philosophies for eradicating lust. Other testimony was about the duty of parents to "sexually orient" their children.

That was telling wasn't it!!!!!

SICKNESS!!!!!!!!

He actually felt that was a viable defense.

A few years ago on Cops (bad boys bad boys what you gonna do) the Memphis police captured this guy who had raped his six y/o niece (I believe).

The guy was trying to talk his way out of it (good luck).

He said to the cops right in front of the camera ,"she was just sitting there on the bed looking at me all seductive like".  The cop turned and walked away looking like he was trying to control his temper.  If I was the father I would have been in prison.

Having two beautiful little girls, 8 and 5, I can't comprehend this.  Who can look at a child, who relies on the adults around them totally, AS A VEHICLE TO SPEW THEIR SICKNESS AND VILENESS ON?  A little girl???? (Or boy for that matter)

My children don't understand why they can't play in the front yard.  I pray they never get a real understanding of why they can't.

yea, me bum is still sore from me dad's lessons.
Since I didn't get it right the first time he had to teach me and teach me again and again.
Wow!!!Now, I get to learn me own children.
Pitty I only have me sons. Ahh, but they are sharp lads, they are.

I wonder if that sounds like logical thinking. The thought of touching a child sexually, let alone your own child, that is just metally mussed up. I'm sorry, people like that need their balls cut out.

Got that mini guilliotine to get all the harcware?  I'll pull the string.  Great man.  Why in the world are there no more condemnation comments about this.  Where is the outrage from our Memphis clergy?  from the Memphis leaders?  from the Memphis citizens?

Sick sick sick. There is no punishment severe enough for this monster. If there ever was a good time for the Death sentence, now would be the time.

What does it take to get more severe child abuse laws?  You can get more jail-time for abusing animals than a child.  I think repeat offenders should undergo some type of operation.  People that molest their own family members should lose something more important than their freedom.  I mean women abusers as well as men - this is a sickness that needs severe penalties.
Is there a legislator willing to go to bat for innocent children that rely on adults to do the right thing?
