MEMPHIS, TN - Eyewitness News Everywhere Uncovers more than 300 crimes in one Memphis Neighborhood and they all happened in just the past month. That's where one of this weekend's homicides took place. The location is the 400 block of Tillman, a neighborhood that's no stranger to violence.
In the past thirty days there have been 30 home break-ins and many of them happened about thirty seconds away from the nearest police precinct.
The latest home break-in happened just yards away from Rhonda Quinn's front door. "We just came home and saw a car sitting there and a bloody shirt." It's especially troubling for Quinn because she once lived on a street that will forever be associated with violence. "I used to stay on Lester Street, 743 Lester, and we moved over here thinking everything will be okay here by the precinct and it's sad, it's not okay, cause it's right down the street from where it happened."
That brings back horrible memories for the concerned Memphian, who has moved away from one crime scene only to rest her head on the same block as another. Quinn's advice to her new neighbors is to make sure everything is locked and secured. "I lock my door every night and I'm scared...This is Binghampton, so I'm scared for my life too, but I just pray nothing happens to me or my little girls."
Our Neighborhood Crime Tracker takes a closer look at what's taking place within a mile of that Binghampton neighborhood. In addition to 30 home break-ins, in the past month, there have been 37 reports of vandalism, 28 cases of aggravated assault, 29 cars have been broken into and 17 cars have been stolen.
