Stabbed Puppy Doing Better, Eating on His Own

MEMPHIS, TN - Veterinarians say a 4 month-old puppy, who was found stabbed in a North Memphis driveway, is now eating on his own, and gaining feeling in his back legs.

The shepherd mix, who is now being called "Mac" was found Wednesday in North Memphis with a steak knife in his back. He had been beaten and spray-painted in the face, then put in a plastic bag. Mac was able to chew through the plastic and get out.

Veterinarians performed surgery on Mac and he is now in a special chamber, designed to help him breathe, at Gentle Care Animal Hospital in Raleigh. Veterinarians say is ate his first meal on his own Friday, and although he is unable to move them, he does have feeling in his back legs.

Many thanks for the update and also to Eye Witness News for covering this story. Not only does it help to bring the plight of defenseless animals and animal cruelty to the public's attention, it hopefully will help to bring about stronger laws that protect all from such inhumane acts. Many thanks also the Gentle Care Animal Hospital and all the staff there for their time, care and skills, not to mention money, to help this little one. Hope that if and when more news becomes available, particularly if the person(s) who committed this toruture are caught, you will provide updates.

Weak people prey on the in the innocent and the society in which we live has become desensitized by it. Only when we say enough is enough will things change. The attack on this puppy is inexcuseable to society as a whole to hear that other attacks have taken place should be telling you that the time will come when the bulies will start picking on people as initiations, will this be enough for people to take back their neighborhoods? How horrible what Mac had gone through yes he feels pain and the fear and yet he fought for life. May God be with him in recovery and with those who inflick pain on the innocent it is certainly nothing to brag about, And it is not hidden from God he saw the whole ordeal.

I hope this little puppy is still alive. The precious pup used as 'bait' in one of Memphis's many dog fighting rings didn't make it. How cruel to think this puppy was born and knew nothing but pain because of sadistic slugs.

Memphis turns a blind eye to dog fighting. The police never seem to have knowledge of where the rings. With past cases, IF charges are filed, the judges simply let the slugs go,  or the pits disappear from MAS. Many people know who did these horrible things to both puppies. They are just to gutless to come forward. People who do such horrid things to animals cannot be looked at as humans...they are SUB-human, born without a soul, empathy, or conscience. With so many people like this being allowed to live and in-breed why should anyone wonder why Memphis is a 'gutter' waiting to collapse.
