Barboursville, WV - One young Wal-Mart customer left with more than a bargain while shopping for watermelons.
The 12 year-old girl from West Virginia was stung by a scorpion when she reached for a seedless watermelon.
Megan Templeton said the sting was worse than a bee, but not as bad as a staple in the finger.
She was taken to an area hospital but was released with no side effect that same evening.
The store's employees did capture the inch-long scorpion, which stowed away in the shipment of melons from Mexico
Wal-Mart executive Richard Coyle said while incidents like these are extremely rare, the store has taken steps to further inspect melon shipments in the future.
