Memphis, TN -- Bond is set for the man accused of terrorizing women during a robbery and sexual assault spree last month.
Wednesday, June 4, 2008, a judge ordered Kim Tai Eddy, 28, held on a $1,075,000 bond for a long list of charges including rape, robbery and kidnapping.
Eddy appeared before Judge Karen Massey via a jailhouse webcam, a new method used by the courts to arraign inmates. He told the judge he would not be able to post bond. The arraignment was delayed slightly because court personnel told the judge Eddy was in the medical wing of the jail. No details other details were given.
Eddy's right eye appeared to still be swollen shut, an injury police say he suffered while resisting officers and fighting with them during his arrest last Saturday night.
Police say Eddy is responsible for nine home invasion robberies in East Memphis, Southeast Memphis and Cordova. All of the crimes happened during an 11 day span last month. Police say one of his victims was raped and four others were sexually assaulted.
Eddy also has two separate burglary and theft cases pending in the court system, one from March and another from last December.
He is scheduled to be back in court June 9, 2008, to have a lawyer appointed for all three cases.
