MINDEN, La. (AP) - Authorities say some kids were fishing when they called police and said they'd found a human leg sticking out of the water.
Detective Tommy Kemp with Minden Police says officers found the rest of the torso Wednesday several hundred yards away, draped over a pipe.
Authorities are using cadaver dogs to search for the head. Deputy Coroner Sallie Bethea says the body appears to have been in the ditch for about two and a half weeks.
Police are investigating this as a homicide, but that's routine any time a body is found.
Kemp says there have been no recent reports of anyone missing in Minden.
He says it's possible the person fell into the ditch and the body just went unnoticed until now.
The body has been sent to Little Rock, Arkansas, for an autopsy.
