Memphis Woman's Purse Snatched In Midtown Driveway

Memphis, TN -- It's happened again in Midtown, Memphis. Another person was robbed in a driveway. It happened in the 1800 block of Harbert Monday night, June 16, 2008.

A young woman, planning to spend time with her, family had just arrived at her parents' home when a guy came out of nowhere and grabbed her from behind. He started dragging her down the driveway when she fell as he snatched her purse.

Her father, standing just feet away at the time, chased the crook, but backed off when he says the robber shot at him. "You just react. It was not wise to chase the person and I understand now. You just feel angry," said Winton Smith, the victim's father.

Neither Mr. Smith nor his daughter was seriously hurt. Anyone with information about this crime is urged to call Crime Stoppers at (901) 528-CASH.

MORE POLICE NEED TO BE HIRED TO JUST PATROL ALL STREETS IN MEMPHIS OR INSTALL CAMERAS ON EVERY STREET TOO KEEP ITS PRIVATE CITIZENS SAFE.
PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF THEM NOT DOING AS MUCH AS THEY COULD AND PEOPLE ARE TIRED OF THESE LOW LIFE CRIMINALS TAKING THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY THAT LADY SHOULD HAVE HAD 357 AND SHOT THE PERSON WHO DID AND LET THEM LIVE OF COURSE TO LET THEM SEE THIS IS WHAT HAPPENS WHEN YOU STEAL SOMETHING THATS NOT YOURS.

It seems like there have been quite a few crimes committed in the midtown area lately.
I agree with you Young JC. I love to see it when people stand up and don't just sit there and take it.
