Arkansas Woman Charged in Daughter’s Death

Antwonette Henderson
OSCEOLA, AR – Osceola Police say an Arkansas woman has been charged in connection with the death of her 3 year-old daughter.

Investigators say the child died on Sunday, June 15, 2008, from internal bleeding.  According to the Mississippi County Medical Examiner, 3 year-old E-Shana Vornes had been beaten.

Osceola Police say Antwonette Henderson, 25, did not call 911 when she says her daughter started having seizures.  Instead, detectives say, Henderson got a ride to the Blytheville hospital, bypassing the hospital in Osceola.

Henderson told police she did not want to go the Osceola hospital because of an argument she had with a doctor during a previous visit on May 25, 2008.  In that case, Henderson told a doctor E-Shana fell off a bed and hurt her head.  But the doctor said that it looked like the toddler had a skull fracture from being beaten with something and not from falling off of a bed.

After her daughter’s death on Sunday, Henderson told police that the three year-old was eating cereal when she started having a seizure.  Henderson says she heard something and walked out of her bedroom to see what was going on when she saw E-Shana on the floor.

Police say E-Shana died in the Blytheville hospital from internal bleeding.  The little girl had fresh bruising inside of her mouth and bruises were still forming on her belly when they arrived at the hospital, according to investigators.

Henderson has been charged with Child Endangerment and is being held on $150,000 bond at the Mississippi County Jail.

This is a child and we as adult hear about this all the time, yet we just sit back and not pay it no mind. Kids are dying everyday because of neglects. We need to pray that’s the key to everything, now we’re seeing that we can not depend on our doctors, our politicians or even our governments. We need to pray Memphis better yet we need to pray America.

These are the kinds of things that turn your stomach. Only the death penalty is suitable punishment.

This is so sad. That poor innocent little girl. Most parents would do anything to protect thier children, then every once in a while you run into mothers like this who have total disreguard and no self control.

I agree with only the death penalty being a suitable punishment, but we all know how these situations with mothers killing thier children have gone down before...............rediculous.

She should be ashamed of herself. Letting that baby suffer like that because of an argument with a doctor. I know that, that wasn't the only hospital or doctor around. If she had a problem with the doctor all she had to do was ask for another doctor. Now an innocent life was taken because of an ignorant mother. Give her dumb *** the death penalty.
