MEMPHIS, TN – Police say a 23 year-old man was shot inside the Fire & Ice Club in Hickory Hill during a fight between rival gangs.

According to investigators, the shooting happened around 2:00 a.m., Monday, June 23, 2008, at the Fire & Ice Club at 6430 Winchester Road.

Police say members of the two gangs were fighting inside the club when someone pulled a gun and shot the 23 year-old in the back.  Detectives say the dance floor was crowded at the time, but no other people were injured.

There were many eyewitnesses to the shooting, but they were only able to give police a vague description of the shooter, according to investigators.

The victim was taken to the hospital in critical condition where he underwent emergency surgery to remove the bullet from his back.  Police say he is out of surgery and is still in critical condition.
