Memphis Woman Fights Off a Purse Snatcher with a Mop

Memphis, TN- A Mid-South woman fought off a purse snatcher with a mop at a "Big Lots" in Berclair on Sunday, June 22, 2008. It happened around 5:00 p.m. in the 4200 block of Summer Avenue near Graham.

Eyewitnesses say the woman was walking to her car when a guy came up and stole her purse. The two struggled for a bit. Even though the victim tried to fight the guy off, he still got away with her purse. The woman wasn't hurt, but she was very shaken up.

Eyewitnesses say the crook took off in a small red hatchback. It had a Tennessee tag 659 LPJ.
