CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) -- Fire officials in Chattanooga say jurors and employees at the Hamilton County Courthouse were evacuated when someone burned popcorn in a basement kitchen microwave.
Chattanooga Fire Department Capt. Carlos Hampton told the Chattanooga Times Free Press that courthouse employees and jurors were allowed back into the building 20 minutes after the evacuation Tuesday morning.
All courtrooms and offices emptied after someone called 911 and the alarm sounded at a few minutes past 10:00 a.m.
Because of the evacuation, a trial in a vehicular homicide case was rescheduled for July.
