MEMPHIS, TN – Residents of an East Memphis neighborhood say they are looking over their shoulders after two separate drive-by shootings involving BB guns.
According to police reports, both incidents happened within a week in the area of Avon Road and Princeton Road. People who live in the area say they are concerned that the next time it won’t be BB guns that are used.
“I think everyone is just kind of locking their doors a little bit and keeping their kids close by. I think we’re just not as safe as we all thought we were,” said Memphis native Martha Wood.
Wood says she is worried that her quiet neighborhood might see more of the crime that plagues other parts of the city. “We’ve talked about moving several times and every time a crime incident comes up, especially when it’s close to home, it just perks up that conversation again,” said Wood.
According to police reports, the descriptions of the vehicles used in both cases do not match up, so it may or may not be the same people responsible.
