HELENA-WEST HELENA, AR – Police say the apartment of a Helena-West Helena officer was burglarized and burned after the crooks got away with two of his uniforms and a bullet proof vest.
Major Ronald Scott of the Helena-West Helena Police Department says they are working to find whoever is responsible for the break-in. The officer moved into the housing authority apartment complex in February as part of a safety partnership, but he ended up becoming a victim of crime himself.
Major Scott says the uniforms and bullet proof vest that were stolen could be used to commit other crimes. Major Scott is warning residents to be on alert.
Investigators say the burglars did not get their hands on the officer's badge or his gun.
