MEMPHIS, TN – Police say a 1 month-old and an 18 month-old were left inside a car while the mother was inside an optical store.

Investigators say police and an ambulance were called to the scene at 5780 East Shelby Drive around 3:00 p.m., Tuesday, July 08, 2008.  The person who called police says the children were inside the car for an hour and it was not running.  He told police that he broke out the window to get the infants out of the car.

Police say the mother was inside an optical store at the time.  She told investigators that she turned on the air conditioner and left the car running while she was in the business.

Both children were taken to Le Bonheur Children’s Medical Center in non-critical condition.
