FAYETTEVILLE, AR – Police say former Razorback Football player Matt Jones was arrested on Cocaine charges in Fayetteville, Arkansas.

According to a police report, officers were on foot patrol when they noticed a white Toyota 4Runner in an unlit parking lot that is known for drug activity.  The officers say they walked up to the car and saw Matthew Jones sitting in the passenger’s seat with a white card in his lap that had a white powdery substance that looked like cocaine.  Police also noticed that he had a credit card in his hand that was being used to chop and scrape the powder.

During a search of the car, police found plastic baggies with more of the white powder in them and a jar filled with what appeared to be marijuana, according to the police report.  Authorities say some of the items were tested at the police station and turned up positive for cocaine.  The other items have been sent to the crime lab for testing, according to police.

Jones was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.  Police say there were two other people in the car with Jones, 26 year-old Benjamin Cook and 25 year-old Jared Hicks.  Investigators say when police searched Hicks, they found a straw behind his ear that had “white powdery residue” on it.

Both Jones and Hicks have been charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.
