MURFREESBORO, Tenn. (AP) - A Murfreesboro police detective says a Rutherford County sheriff's deputy in an unmarked car struck and killed an 11 year-old girl.
Detective James Boske said the girl was visiting her grandmother Thursday night around 9:00 p.m. CDT when she was hit as she crossed Bradyville Pike.
Murfreesboro is about 30 miles southeast of Nashville.
Boske would not identify the girl or the sheriff's deputy. A spokesman for the sheriff's department did not immediately return a call from the Associated Press.
He said he didn't know whether speeding or alcohol were involved in the accident.
Police are still investigating.
