I know this lady very well and it is a shame when you think your safe in a controlled housing unit, you get invaded by a coward that preys on helpless people. As a repeated offender, you would think that the justice system would have handled this punk long before he had the chance to hurt more people. I doubt he will ever go back there again, but I am almost positive that he will be walking the streets soon again. What is it like 18 serious arrests now for this coward, and the longest stint in jail was a year and 11 months. Guess he has to take someones life to get a more serious sentence, maybe 5 years. What a joke. Wonder what would happen to him if he hurt a judges relative? Bet he would get what he deserves. STOP protecting the criminals and put the animals in their cages.

Shadow how do you know her? I am her niece and just heard about it from my other Aunt. I plan on being in the court room on Sept. 12th. I pray the justice system does it's job this time though I won't be holding my breath. Thank you everyone for your support. Aunt Alice Ruth is still in the hospital on a breathing machine. If she doesn't make it I would hope that he gets a murder charge. I do believe that would be the only thing that will keep this crack head from doing this to someone else. Also believe the security guard that let him in should catch a case as well, seeing as how he is partially responsible.

Update: My aunt died last night. I'm not sure if the charges have been added yet. I can't seem to get an answer at any of the numbers I have tried since it is after hours. Hopefully I will know something tomorrow. I will post if I get any information. Thank you everyone for your support. Seems like the citizens of Memphis have had more concern that her own kids, or the hospital she was in. The conditions there were horrible. They didn't clean her or prevent bed sores or anything they should have done. Besides 1 other person we were the only family that even went to see her. I can't believe the world is such a crappy place that something like that could happen and her own family or care providers would treat her like she didn't matter anyway. I'm sick to my stomach. RIP Aunt Roosie.

Update: The remarks from Beccaboo apparently is from someone that did not really know my aunt Ruth. She died knowing that her family loved her, because we spoke to her constantly through the years, and the days following her injuries. We were all very close to our aunt Ruth. Her sons did go to the hospital and she was visited by her grandchildren, and great grandchild. Her sister that lived local stayed at the hospital for three nights and four days before becoming ill from lack of sleep. She bathed her and hand fed her. That is love. Her sister and brother that is out of town (and are also in their eighties) as well as the nieces and nephews that she was most close to, prayed and cried each day for her. The phone was put to her ear when she could not talk, and she was told how much she was loved even then. She had her son with her the day she died. Her funeral was just as she would have wanted. The many people and family that loved her were there, many traveling miles, and Beccaboo I do not remember seeing you...Whatever problem you have, you should not use what has happened here to voice lie's for self-gratification. The care providers made sure that she was sent to ICU each time they felt it was needed. Her son was notified each time a change was made... The case against Sturdivant is ongoing and hopefully he will recieve what he deserve's this time. The loving family I just mentioned will certaintly stay on top of that..

Say what you will but Clara is a liar and from what I was told she had dried blood on her face when my mother Dianne went to the hospital and stayed for days. I am going by the facts that I know. Her son from Houston came once to see her. So whatever. I have been the one staying on top of what's going on. She was in bad shape and while my mother and Claudette were there none of her children or grandchildren came to see her. Also Micheal wanted the funeral asap as to not inconvenience his daughter's school schedule. Her kids didn't give a crap about her. Also Clara told her the man responsible was out on bail which is a lie and told her he was going to die. What kind of sister is that anyway? Sounds like all you Jones' are just alike.

I have no reason to lie about anything and I'm not the money hungry arrogant jerks that just want money. You say they called her over the years. That may be true but did they ever go see her? NO all she had was her twisted sister Clara and my aunt Claudette. I am her grand niece and I have done more talking to the DA than any of her immediate family. Sturdivant is not being charged with murder or assault. Only aggravated burglary and Att. robbery. He goes back to court on the 29th to make a deal. So he won't be getting a lengthy sentence. SO why don't you stick to your own advice and speak some truth. If anyone doesn't believe that call his prosecuting attorney Anita Spinetta.

It was approximately 42 days from the time the attack happened until your first comment Beccaboo, on August 30. You stated that you "just" heard about it. I can not understand why it was that long before you knew what happened.. That could possibly explain your LACK of knowledge on facts approximately 42 DAYS immediately following the attack. This comment page has started to represent exactly what MY aunt did not like. I will not continue to shame her in this way. Unfortunately some people have jobs, and do not live off the gov. They can not be where they want to be sometimes. It does not matter to me or anyone I know, what you have, or have not done. Who really cares??? The focus should be on what Marvin L. Sturdivant has been able to do to so many. Immediately after it happened the statement was made that Tn. laws will have to be changed. Maybe you could work on that.

I don't live in Tn and I don't associate with Clara and her bunch. Just because I found out a month after it happened doesn't make anything I said untrue. I got my facts from several people in the family. As far as Sturdivant I got my facts from DA and public information. I didn't post here to start a war or hurt feelings. I said what I had to say because it was the truth as I knew it and I was as outraged about the whole situation as her children should have been. As far as the visits and whatnot all that info came straight from Alice Ruth's own mouth. SO maybe you should calm down a bit and think about the whole picture here. Nothing i said was a personal attack on anyone that didn't deserve it. And just because I didn't hear about it as soon as it happened or wasn't at the funeral doesn't make anything I said untrue or that I didn't love her just as much as you are saying you do and so on. She was a good woman surrounded by manipulative people that she called family. We all knew/know how her life was even before the attack. This will be my last comment on this b/c you are the one that seems to be getting off on hurting people in your own family. I would be willing to bet you are one of Clara's own adopted children just by the way you are reacting to what I said and making me to look like the liar. Get over yourself. I still feel bad about what she went through with the attack, the hospital that barely did their job and her family that didn't care. So everything you said is pointless and will remain that way. Did you even consider that I wasn't at the funeral was b/c yes some of us do have jobs. But she wasn't my mother or grandmother. She was a great aunt who I cared for dearly. That was the point of ever posting and following his case to begin with. I'm not sitting around waiting on her money to be distributed like her kids. And as for all the family that saw her after my post that is all well and good. When I posted my mother and aunt had been at the hospital doing the nurses jobs for over a week and I was going by what I knew then. At that point the only people that came to see her was 1 of her grandchildren and her good friend Lori. So you can't push blame and whatever on me for events that happened after I had last posted. The fact that you felt the need to start a verbal war over this just proves how much you don't care and are shaming her memory. Just as her own sister did by telling lies. As she is well known for. She mentally tortured Alice Ruth till the day she died. She did not stay 3 nights with her b/c they wouldn't even allow my Mom and her sister, Clara's original set of kids to stay the night so that we know is bull. She did however lie to both Ruth and the family saying things like Alice Ruth's shoulder was smashed and other things that weren't true. Another thing, just b/c i found out 40 days after the event doesn't mean I didn't hear about everything that had happened in that 40 days from Alice Ruth's own mouth. So say whatever you want I'm not going to continue this with who is ultimately still my family whether they want to admit it or not. I don't know what makes you think I am jobless and live off the government. Yet something else that you need to get your facts straight about. SO get off your high horse and do something useful like talk to the DA about getting more charges b/c that is the only thing that could help right now although I doubt you can do it if I can't. This is my aunt Roothy also,Girls, we can't change anything that has happened but please let me know if there is anything I can do for yall. I'm Iva's oldest grandchild and had just got reconnected with her a few months before this happened we have lost a great woman and a best-friend,she has always worked hard and loved us all. What would she want???? Not what I have cryed or read threw above. You are right about the DA there are alot of us that love and miss her and If your my cousins then we have all been raised by strong women. I want to get one of the major news agents involved, The thing that is responsible(i will not write his name) needs to rot in jail. I live in texas but there has to be someway i can help, I love and miss her so much and yall be greatful of having her near you.
