I enjoyed the overall event.  It was presented professionally and "first class" all the way.  Hopefully this type of event will be done again in Memphis!  Kudos to Verizon Wireless and all the other sponsors.  Its nice to see this type of financial commitment given back to the community.  I do believe the sponsors were quite surprised as to the overwhelming support and crowd attendance.  This was evident in the amount of seats that were blocked out to view the event...only half of the FEDEX Forum was made available and clearly there weren't enough seats.  It was standing room only!   All the choirs are winners in their own rights, but I enjoyed New Olivett, Brown Baptist, Miracle Temple and ADT!  My overall favorite was the ADT RAPTURE READY CHOIR.  The key word here is READY!  That quite is READY!!!!

Oh yes..ADT showed us Saturday that they are indeed ready.  Within minutes, most of the audience was on their feet.  The anointing makes a difference, no doubt! Kudos to ADT, Miracle Temple and Brown Baptist.  Well done, you all!

Re: How Sweet the Sound Memphis

Did anyone see fault in the contest? The rules were very clear. Technical merit (includes diction, tone, ensemble, technique/difficulty);  2) originality/interpretation (includes dynamics/style, expression/artistry and awareness of text); 3) stage presence/professionalism. The Finalists with the highest total scores calculated by adding the scores from all three criteria are determined the winner. In the event of a tied score between Finalists, the Choir with the higher score in technical merit shall be deemed the winner. In the event of a tie among Finalists that have the same score in technical merit, the judges will break the tie at their sole discretion. The judges’ decisions related to the judging of all contestants are final. I felt Miracle Temple Sanctuary should have been the overall winner. Which I heard they were but someone overturn the judges ruling. The small choir winner should have been either Kingsway Chrisitian Church or Southside church of God in Christ. I really didn't understand Apostolic Deliverance Temple choir was saying if they wasnt doing the hand sign with it . The lead vocalist sung well but this was a choir contest, not lead contest. Rule number 1 should applied to them, but I guess did judges like they way they dance more than the other choirs singing. The winner of  large choir should have been  Brown Missionary Baptist Church or The New Olivet Sanctuary Church.  New Direction Christian Church did Tye Tribbett routine for his dvd , which I love but I seen it to many times. Rule number 2( originality) should have applied , and did he not drop his mic and almost fall. I just want know as GOD's people should we accepted something from the world if its not right. I believe we are better than this , but if we are not GOd help us. Bible give us rules to live by , so why follow all rules that we suppose to.So next year lets sing by the rules for GOD is watching

I am a member of the Miracle Temple Ministries choir. This was a wonderful experience for me and I too along with our Minister of Music (Minister Shawn X. Jones) thank Verizon Wireless and all other sponsors for the exposure not only given to us but to all the choirs that participated.  This is God's doing and it is marvelous in our eyes.  I not only enjoyed singing at the FEDEX FORUM, but I also enjoyed the fellowship we had with the other finalist.  I thank God for both wins we had (medium church and the text voting-memphis choice).  Miracle Temple Ministries is the place to be and the very presence of God that you felt at the FORUM is what you feel each time you enter the doors of Miracle Temple.  Remember ------ "There's A Miracle Coming Your Way".  God love's you and so do we.

Re: How Sweet the Sound Memphis

i think the competition was a great experience for everyone that was involved, whether you were there to view or compete. It truely let you know of the great talent that is here in the Memphis area. We here so much of all the terrible things that are going on in the city, but never any of the good exposure. But we as a body of christ need to come together and make a change in this great city . Memphis is known as the bible belt, and that is a true representation of GOD. So instead of us bickering over who should have and who should have not, let get together and make a differences in our community. We have yet another influence to add to the division of the body of christ. Can we just allow this experience to join us together for the good of them that love the lord. If two can chase a thousand, then what would memphis be if we all got togther and fought the good fight. We all have our own gifts and talents and we are to use them for the edifying of our Lord and saviour JESUS, HE IS THE ONLY ONE WHO TRUELY WINS without him we could not have opened our mouths to say anything. So don't get it twisted, to GOD be the glory. Yes my vote was definately for the Miricle Temple Santuary Choir for they worshipped God in spirit and in truth no put on no show, they let God be God, they let him be glorified. But in competions they are looking for a different thing, which is what they consider to be real to them. Yes, it was another Ty Tribett thing going on but thats what people are looking for more imitation. Something that has already been producted. We have got to learn to take a stand, we are the body we are the church and we are not to conform to the things of the world. We are peculiar people, we are an open bible for people. So lets stop the division and start meshing together as one body of christ. This competition was exposure to let the devil know that he still has warriors out there and this city is really not as bad as publicity puts it out to be. There is a shifting comming!!!! BE BLESSED AND KNOW THAT THERE IS A MIRICLE COMMING YOUR WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Re: How Sweet the Sound Memphis

God is watching us or the rules?  If God gets His glory, that's all that matters.  Apparently all of the choirs followed the rules well enough not to get disqualified.  Once again, kudos to all who participated.  Let's keep it Jesus..

Everyone has his or her own opinion about who should or should not have won. There is no reason to be upset because of who you thought should have won did not. It seems to me that "warriors" was a little dismayed concerning the judging but that is ok. That is their opinion. We should respect and acknowledge each opinion.

The competition is over so now we must move on, look forward, and trust God. Look around and serve God. Look within and find God! We must continue to fast and pray for our city, our local and national leaders. We must be about our father's business and that is ministering in song or deed the word of God.

Behind stage, I witnessed all the choirs supporting each other before and after the event! They all worshiped the Lord in the beauty of holiness. What can I say; they had "CHURCH" back there!

So Congratulations to all the choirs. Thank you for blessing so many people and showing true worship. I would also like to thank Verizon and all the sponsors because without you sponsoring this event; there would not have been a "FREE" family event at the Fed Ex Forum. Most of all I would like to give special honor and thanks to our Lord and Savior, JESUS CHRIST because without him none of this would have occurred.

    To God be the glory!

    STOP !
....What you are doing right now, and give God some Praise for what He's already done!
If you don't, I'm Praising Him for ya!

    Praise the Lord, Everybody!!!!!

Re: How Sweet the Sound Memphis

I am a proud member of New Direction AND Live & Direct.  It was a great program!!  All of the choirs were great!   There were 9 different forms of worship.  If every choir had done the same thing, it would have been boring.  What really and truly matters at the end of the day is whether or not someone gave their life to Christ.  It doesn't matter whether it was through praise and worship or through the dance.  It's all good in God's eyes, and God's eyes are the only eyes that matter!

Congratulations to all the winners!!  All 9 of them!!   Big Smile

Re: How Sweet the Sound Memphis

I think the competition was great and I hope all of the choirs there gave God the Praise according to the way they worship on Sunday or whenever God gives them the opportunity to. For New Direction Choir Live and Direct.  They were Live and Direct. They praise God every Sunday that same way. They enter the competition knowing that they would be different; Pastor Spencer is different and anointed mistake about it. NDCC was call to be different our praise and worship my not be traditional, but God knows us and He has hands on us as well .That’s why we could come in our way giving Him

Praise Glory and Honor. All for the choirs gave God praise no matter how different they where. Tye Tribbet is different from Marvin Sapp, Smokier Norful, and Donnie Mcclurkin

The only different is the way they praise. This competition was to give God the Praise and churches are making it to be just what the Devil wanted to make it. A good time to talk about the church you don’t like to say things you been wanting to say. Why should it matters who you think should have Won. God won if 1person gave there life to God on that night. WE ALL WON. Because the really competition is what are you going to do with your life right now. We are all in a competition everyday trying to get closer to God and to share his word with everyone that needs it. If the unsaved login to see what we are talking about after a church competition do you think we could bring one more to Jesus? Or would they laugh and say we are just like them. We can say to God be the Glory right after we judge other. God is waiting for the real, TO GOD BE THE GLORY!!!!!!!!!!

    BE BLESSED!!!!!!

Re: How Sweet the Sound Memphis

You are 100% correct.  If we as christians can't get it together, why would a sinner want to come to Christ?  It's less complicated in their world, or so they would think!
