That is a great idea but one problem with that what happens when the confiscated weapons make their way back to the streets by corrupt cops with access for the right price. We need harsher punishments and more penalties for carrying a  weapons. Most criminals repeat offenses when they are  release on bond. For example we need anyone caught with  with weapons or drugs with a prior history  bond be  revoked. Harsher punishments will force criminals  to realize that the next time they won't get out of jail.  So we need to enforce laws and create tougher ones. If you take away one gun what is stopping them for getting another one next week? I am not saying my ideas are perfect far from it but we  need more than  a temporaily fix we need a permanent solutions.We need more more jobs, afterschool and summer programs for children the money is there just misguided places.
