I am so tired of seeing headlines like this! And then when people see and hear this they automatically think it's the dogs fault!!! It's not ! It's these idiots who want to own one because they think it makes them tough. Dogs are like cars in a way, and some people want to show off, and have the baddest dog. So they starve them, beat them, and  do unimaginable things to them, to make them mean! I volunteer at a number of different shelters, and for those that haven't, just take a trip to one on any given day, and you will see the pitbull crisis! You will see the sad reality, and what these dogs are going through.  It's a crying shame that people want to blame the dogs, and not the real monster. The bad one is not four legged beast, it's the monster on the other end of the leash!  I was going about my day as usual, reading stuff on the computer, and I ran across a terrible story that is becoming far too common! A little boy, mauled by family pitbull!!! So sad. What a shame! It's also a shame that it was so easily prevented, and in the paper, they failed to leave out some details that would have ruled out it being the dogs fault, instead it was the owners fault for keeping a dog in such conditions! The dog was chained in a basement for 4 yrs., in the dark, w/ hardly no human contact, not neutered, and there was a female in heat on the same property. The child wandered down to the basement, and was attacked and killed! Let this be a lesson people! Chaining a dog for long periods of time, makes them vicious!  So don't do it! If you have a dog being chained, find other options, it's an accident waiting to happen! Not to mention it is so cruel! When you watch animal police you see over half of the show is about pitbulls that are mistreated! People need to wake up and realize that these dogs are the victims, they are not monsters like the media portrays them as! So if you know of dogs being mistreated, and fought, do something. We have to be our dogs voices because they can't speak for themselves!!! If there were more responsible pitbull owners like me, we wouldn't see these headlines so much!
