Memphis is great because we have a black mayor. yay Oh yeah and we have cime rates that just go up and up. Thats good because the rapers need something to rap about right? Memphis is so cool; rundown building, ignorant black people, a thug as mayor, homeless people everywhere, school system is a joke. I think the best thing for memhis is that it falls in the mississippi river. Black people are a joke just judge people on their color right not on their ability to lead. Just like the O.J. case he was gulity but just cuz he was black the blacks got his black. Pat yourselves on the back blackie you make me laugh so much. Your race is a disgrace. And these news reporters, what does the mayor have you in his pockets to or are you just scared shitless of him. *** blackie hahaha. You make your ancestors proud.      My name is Zaniesha Davis. This past weekend I traveled with some friends to St. Louis to try out for America's Next Top Model! They only allowed about 170 applicants in the door. From that pool, they only chose 11 finalist from the St. Louis audition and I was one of them! The next step is to get people to vote all week long on cw11tv.com. People can vote all day, everyday up until noon on Friday, March 13th. If I have the most votes, I win a trip to go to the live auditions in front of Tyra and her crew.
      I really need all the publicity I can get because I know I can win and make Memphis proud. I am well-spoken and articulate, driven and motivated. I just need help spreading the word.

This is a great town. However, I have never met a more narrow minded abusive group of people in all my life. I work as a sales rep and have done so all over the country. I have never encountered the problems with people i have in other areas of the country that I have in Memphis. Business owners are rude, hostile, narrow minded and expect me as a consumer to purchase from them. I too am a human being and am working to make a living. We as a city wonder why people are leaving and taking their money elsewhere. When business owners cannot treat people with basic human respect and mistreat vendors as a nuissance and not as a business partner and potentially as a customer. When I am in a business working I treat my customers with respect and dignity. However, when a business owner abuses me they can bank on it that I won't use them in the future and as any other consumer I will tell everyone how I was treated. A word to business owners. You may want to think twice about abusing that pesky vendor that comes into your businesses. not only are we trying to eek out a living we are also customers. I have never met a more hostile and abusive group of people until i moved to the midsouth.

Fallen trees!

What makes memphis great are the neighbors that come together to help someone in need. When tree limbs broke due to the recent weather, my power was out and extensive damage was done to my house. Neighbors came over to help me repair my house and they allowed me to use their electric until MLGW got my power back up. A memphis lumber company donated all the wood for the repairs for the house! Thanks guys!

On Sunday, June 15, 2008, Vineyard United Methodist Church will offer “The Perfect Father’s Day Gift” - a day filled with worship, barbeque and golf. The event will kick off with a service hosted at Hillwood Lodge at 10:30 am, followed by a free barbeque lunch cooked by members of a Memphis in May BBQ Team. A four man golf scramble will be held at Quail Ridge Golf Course at 2:30 pm with an entry fee of under $30 per person.

I enrolled for online classes a while ago and I’m trying so hard to stay on top of the game. I’m finding it hard to stay motivated and concentrate on my lessons. Please help me with some tips to succeed and perform well before I give up! I know I can score good marks in exams but there’s so much distraction from other things. Thanks in advance.

Memphis is full of crap

I work in Memphis, hickory hill area 5 days a week, 13 hours a day as a security guard, I go around to apartment complexes and look for crime and report to the police. I have to say, this is the funniest thing to do for a job, black people in their own community turn their heads to drug dealers and bums breaking into apartments and homes.

I was in the civil rights museum a week ago, walking through it I felt sorry for the things that whites did to blacks in the past, even though I was not alive then and should not be blamed for anything that happened then. By the end of the tour of the museum, I felt sad, sad not for what whites did to blacks back then, or for blacks themselves, but for the blacks that gave everything, such as Martin Luther King, for all the work he did as well as the black community for fighting for their rights to be equal and free. What I see now is the black community screwing up everything they fought, strived, and dreamed about. This generation has lost their vision!

Your neighborhoods are not safe, you’re not watching your neighbors in seeing if they are breaking the law and turning them in, you’re not even trying to clean up your neighborhoods. You just drop your trash on the ground and expect someone else to pick it up.

I drive around in my patrol car and wave to everyone in the apartment complexes and do not get a wave back. I get a stare back at me like I am a no good white boy trying to start trouble. The thing is, I have job security because the black community will not take a hold of their responsibility in helping clean up their own community.

Keep blaming me for the black community being suppressed, its only making job security for me and I am laughing all the way to the bank.

As a white person, I can with a clean mind say that it is no longer anything the whites have done to the blacks. It’s all the blacks’ problems now. Hell the Jewish community came back from the Germans and became powerful, no hand outs for them.

I wanted to let everyone at Eye Witness News know that last night during the tornado(s), I GREATLY appreciated them for keeping all of us in Memphis (and surround areas) aware of what was going on. I moved to Memphis in November, 2002 and this is the first "real" storm that I have been in.

Granted, I was nervous, scared, etc. - but having the Eye Witness News crew "in my living room" with me, helped me to stay calm and do what I needed to do.

I appreciate everyone staying on so late into the night (until everything had pretty much calmed down). My heart and prayers go out to everyone who had someone injuried or who did not make it. I also appreciate all the Memphians for sending in their pictures to show ALL how bad it really was out. THIS STORM WAS DEFINITELY NO JOKE.

THANK YOU ONCE AGAIN.

GOD TRULY DOES HAVE ANGELS ON EARTH AND THEY ARE AT THE EYE WITNESS NEWS CHANNEL.

Why is Memphis the best place to live?

I was born in Memphis in 1957. I've lived all over the country, yet kept getting drawn back to Memphis at different times in my life, mainly because of my family. I live in California now and couldn't be happier. Memphis is it's own worst enemy. A dear friend of mine who is a minister and phychologist told me that he felt that Memphis was the angriest and most racially divided city in the country. I agree. I've been mugged, shot at, falsley (and justly) arrested. ( 201 Poplar is lower than third world jails - by a long shot, no wonder Amnesty International condemned it). My friends in Cordova actually lock their doors when they go outside to mow the lawn. Revamp the city government, empower the police, pay 11 seconds of attention to the public schools or hopefully, the sane will do what I did - move away. Detroit, DC, Memphis. All the world hears is the absolute failure of these cities. It's a shame and it breaks my heart. There have been two murders in the town I live in in the last 10 years and we all were shocked when they happened. 4 bank robberies in that same time span. That's an afternoons work in Memphis. When will Memphians take care of, or even notice of each other except to complain and hate. Best place to live? If I owned Memphis and Hell, I'd rent out Memphis and live in Hell.

Memphis is great because we have more bums that Starbucks locations and they spend all day sleeping under highway overpasses, collecting those annoying pennies at highway exit ramps, and picking up cans and bottles for recycling keeping our city clean.

Nothing is better than being downtown and being panhandled, then getting in your car and seeing bums at every highway exit as your drive to midtown for a nice dinner, then seeing bums around mid-town, and driving home to east memphis only to watch the bums drink behind the Aldi on Winchester
